Our B Corp journey and why it started
Our B Corp journey did not begin with a big announcement or a clear end goal. It began quietly, with a growing sense that how we work matters just as much as the work we deliver. Like many businesses, we were already trying to do the right thing, but we wanted to understand whether those intentions were genuinely embedded in our decisions, our processes, and our culture.
Starting the B Corp process gave us a framework for stepping back and looking at ourselves honestly. It encouraged us to question how we operate, how our decisions affect people and places, and where we could do better. Some of those reflections were reassuring. Others were more challenging. But all of them helped sharpen our understanding of what responsible business really means in practice.
As we moved further into the journey, it became clear that the value was not in chasing a badge, but in the conversations it sparked. We began questioning everyday decisions more thoughtfully, embedding purpose more deeply into our work rather than treating it as something separate. Over time, that mindset shifted how we think about impact, responsibility, and long term success.
There were moments when the process felt demanding. Reviewing policies, examining impact, and making meaningful improvements takes time and attention. But that challenge is also what made the journey rewarding. Each step helped us build a clearer picture of the kind of business we want to be and the role we want to play in supporting healthier, happier people and places. As part of this, we are also proud to be a Disability Confident employer, reflecting our commitment to creating a more inclusive and accessible workplace for everyone.
Turning intention into impact through our work
Responsibility for us does not stop at internal policies or good intentions. It also shows up in the work we create and share. As part of our journey, we have been exploring ways to make the environmental impact of digital work more visible and easier to understand.
That thinking led us to develop tools that help teams better understand the real-world impact of their digital choices. Our Landing Page Impact tool helps highlight the carbon impact of web pages, while our Colour Energy Calculator explores how design decisions affect energy use on screens. These tools are not about perfection, but about awareness. They are small, practical ways to support more informed decisions that can add up to meaningful change over time.
One of the things we value most about the B Corp movement is its emphasis on learning rather than perfection. We are still improving. We are still asking questions. And that feels like the right place to be. Progress over perfection has become a mindset that allows us to move forward honestly, making improvements where we can and committing to doing better over time.
For anyone thinking about starting their own B Corp journey, there are resources that make the first steps feel far more approachable. The introductory online course from B Lab UK offers a clear and practical introduction to the movement and what it really stands for. It provides a grounded overview of the assessment process and the values behind it, and it is a great place to begin if you are curious about whether the journey is right for your business.
We are now approaching the evaluation stage of our B Corp application. This journey has already shaped how we think, how we work, and how we measure success. It has reinforced the importance of questioning ourselves, learning as we go, and making decisions that reflect our values rather than just our outputs.
Progress over perfection. Learning along the way. Amplifying voices where we can. This is not the end of the journey, but an important milestone, and we are excited to see where it takes us next.
